Abstract Power systems include generation, transmission, and distribution to deliver electricity to the consumers. The study of power system is the main responsibility of experts in power system. Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP) is one part of network planning which its goal is to design the optimum transmission network in the horizon to reliably meet demands of system. Many algorithms in the area are presented for TEP. This paper proposes TEP in deregulated environment based on genetic algorithm considering AC power flow equations. Furthermore, the proposed method includes reactive power allocation by fixed and variable capacitor banks placement. The effectiveness of the suggested algorithm is studied based on 6-bus Garver as well as IEEE RTS 24-bus test systems and the results are analyzed. |
