A comparison of sost and HVDC transient simulation algorithms

Abstract

Simulator with optimal step time (SOST) is a hybrid solution of large HVDC/HVAC systems. Detailed simulation of HVDC converter behavior has been modified to include automatic selection of optimal integration steps, frequncy-dependent effects of AC system, AC system phase and magnitude dynamics of voltage (Particularly weak AC systems), control assessment and temporary over-voltage consequences. SOST, via graphical interfaces, to provide fast and accurate information of electromechanical and electromagneti-transients behaviour of large HVDC/HVAC system.
