school of Physics The school of Physics at IUST was established in 1985. The school has been expanded within almost 20 years and now we offer various subjects in Physics leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Photonics, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics.
The Photonics program is a new major in the school and the first students joined the program in October 2005. The establishment of three new research labs, namely, Laser based measurement lab, Thin film technology lab, and Photonics lab have been very effective in the improvement of the school.
Choosing physics as a choice of degree subject does not restrict you to careers within science. Studying physics will enable you to develop skills that help you in problem solving, project management and engineering projects. Such abilities will also help you to choose a career from a very large range of possibilities in science, technology or management whether in industry, education, or government.
All students can get benefit from various courses, advanced educational labs, a small library, and two computer sites in the school. Modern facilities and equipments provide a good opportunity for students to understand the fundamental concepts in Physics.
