Mr  Nilforoushan Mohammad Reza  will present his P.H.D thesis on " The principles Of daylight usagein primary schools " at 11:30 A.M on 3 February 2015 under the guidance of Dr Mozaffar Farhang.

 

Abstract:

Education process has several important concepts which might be affected positively and/or negatively. Training in primary schools and improvement of students has a prominent role in child development, as well. Among the different variables which affect on child learning and educational performance is illumination level in both kinds of day light and artificial light. In this study as a part of a PhD program, day light levels and their impacts on students’ performance and health have been assessed. Learning performances, satisfaction, classrooms layouts, teachers’ opinions about day light and classrooms illumination level, glare and classrooms decoration were assessed in this study; of course it is ongoing research as a PhD program. In this study two cities were selected for survey, Isfahan in Iran, and Glasgow in UK. These cities are different in terms of geographical characteristics and sun azimuths.

In this study compared teachers' comments in Isfahan and Glasgow. According to the findings, there is a significant differencebetween morning and afternoon classes in terms of students’ performance in Isfahan and Glasgow and the numbers of people with strongly agree in Isfahan is more than Glasgow that this issue is due to differences of climate and weather of two cities and there is not significant difference in terms of type of light source used in Isfahan and Glasgow.
