Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei called the new Iranian year as the year of innovation and success. In a televised address for the start of the new Iranian calendar, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "In light of the new year, the spirit of innovation should dominate the country. Officials should feel responsible and use financial and spiritual facilities in new and innovative areas through sound management, proper planning and wise handling of affairs for the better good of the people." Iran Leader congratulated the Iranian nation and Muslims on three auspicious occasions: birth anniversaries of the Noblest Messenger of Allah, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and of his grandson Imam Jaafar Sadeq (AS), as well as the advent of the traditional Iranian Norooz celebrations, marking start of the New Iranian calendar. He wished Iranians and Muslims a year full of prosperity and happiness. Ayatollah Khamenei said that the New Year will mark the 30th anniversary for the Islamic Republic, triumphing years of successful defense for the country's independence and national dignity, as well as brilliant achievements in scientific fields. "All the efforts will remain ever outstanding and permanent in Iran's history. We cannot let it slip by, rather we must double our efforts for a sturdier and disciplined momentum. We should use our capacities towards advancing our domestic and international domains.” He further added, "This year, I expect for innovations in different social, economic, and service fields, including the country's diplomacy and advancement towards science and research; innovations, which can promote the desired culture of serving people, especially the poor." "My second expectation for this year is the completion of activities that began in the previous years, and of recently begun government projects. For this, I will refer to this year as the year of innovation and prosperity." He praised the productive efforts made by private and government officials, including the parliament and other organizations, and efforts made by the country’s students and researchers in enormous scientific achievements throughout the past year. Ayatollah Khamenei wished the Iranian nation further prosperity and success in the New Year. Along the lines set by the supreme leader, emphasizing the importance of scientific and intellectual development of the Iranian nation, universities are making extra efforts in these areas. Office representing the Supreme Leader in the University is, therefore, the main body responsible for assuring the overlap of university strategies with the supreme leader's guidelines towards the emergence of an Islamic knowledge based society. Goals and Objectives A r epresentative of the Supreme Leader at IUST has been appointed with the aim towards cultural and religious elevation of the university body. The main objectives of the office are as following: · Intensifying student Islamic awareness and concerns · Establishing and enhancing a refined and spiritual atmosphere in the university, and promoting ethical principles among students · Enriching the political view of the university students · Bolstering and guiding theological morale among the student community · Reinforcing Islamic values in scientific and executive extents · Defying deviational notions and consolidating self-credence and independence · Further consolidating the relation between university and Hawzah.
