The Two IUST Teams Bring Home the Championship, Again

 The eighth Iran Open 2013 International RoboCup competitions were held April 5-7 in Tehran's international convention center. 390 teams from 14 countries participated in the competitions. Two teams from IUST's School of Computer Engineering won first and second place in two Small Size Robot Soccer Leagues, and in the 2D Soccer Simulation League .

 The student Immortals team, supervised by Sayyed Ali Ghazi Mir-Saeed and guided by Dr. Reza Barangi, School of Computer Engineering faculty, attained championship in the Small Size Robot League. Mohammad Tabasi, Mohammad Reza Niknejad, Sayyed Mohammad Hossain Fazeli, and Sayyed Sadegh Mohseni Salehi Monfared are members of the Immortals team.

 Throughout its activities, this team has had great success in previous Small Size Robot Soccer Leagues, including winning second place in Turkey's 2011 Robocup competitions; second place in the RoboCup 2010 Singapore; first place in the third national Khwarizmi Robotics competition; first place in the twelfth, and second place in the eleventh Khwarizmi Youth competitions; third place in the nation's Iran Open 2010 competitions; and three places in the SharifCup 2012 competitions.

 In the eight Iran Open 2013 RoboCup Competitions, 2D Soccer Simulation League, the Axiom team  won second place from among 24 active teams. This team was coached by Mohammad Ghazanfari and Dr. Naser Mozayyeni (chair and faculty at the School of Computer Engineering. Members of this team include: Mohammad Mahdavi, Farid Samsami, Seyyed Amir Shir-Khorshidi, Hossein Rahmatizadeh and Payam Mohajeri. 

 The Axiom team won third place for the 2D Soccer Simulation League in the Iran Open 2011 competitions; fourth place in the Iran Open 2012 competitions, and third place in the SharifCup 2012 competitions. This team also participated in the RoboCup 2012 Mexico competitions.

 Towards the end of the eighth Iran Open competitions, the two teams, the Immortals and the Axiom were handed the award plaque and a statue of the RoboCup competitions.

  The Iran Open RoboCup competitions are among the most accredited robotic competitions in the world, and are licensed by the International RoboCup Federation in West Asia and the Middle East, handed to the national Iranian Robocup Committee.

  It is noteworthy that the two teams, the Axiom and the Immortals, were accepted to compete in the June 2013 Netherlands competitions. Our students will compete in the two international competitions- the 2D Soccer Simulation League and the Small Size Robot Soccer Leagues .
