The 7th International Surfing Reef Symposium 19 March 2010 19 March 2010 Sydney, Australia Website: http://www.surfingramps.com.au/SurfingSymposium.htm The 7th International Surfing Reef Symposium will be held in Sydney, Australia on Friday 19th March 2010 at the Scenic Room, Bondi Surf Club, with catering by Ravesis. Barton Lynch, 1988 World Surfing Champion is the Symposium MC. The aim of the one day conference is to share knowledge on the technical aspects of; coastal surfing bathymetry, seafloor topography, artificial surfing reefs, multi-purpose-reefs, beach nourishment works, hazard removal, reef 're-profiling', surf spot maintenance and reparations, preservation (Surfing Reserves) and other coastal issues that impact submerged surfing topographies. Discussion will highlight; strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT) as well as constraints, challenges and successes. Case studies will include; Cables (WA), Narrowneck (Qld), Mt Maunganui (NZ), Bournemouth/Boscombe (UK), Superbank (Qld) and Bargara/Burkitts (Qld). The target audience includes; surfers, local boardriding clubs, Surfing Australia, Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), surfing industry representatives, coastal planners, conservationists, resort owners, property developers, government authorities, research institutions and interested parties. |
