One of this university's active schools in the science department was the School of Mathematics and Computer Science at Iran University of Science and Technology. With the expansion of the institution, the Mathematics department began to create a Mathematics major with two majors: pure and applied in 1984. Eleven students were admitted into the pure major in 1989, the same year that this department's second-year undergraduate students graduated. In 1990, six students in the applied orientation joined the pure orientation in developing their master's course activities.
The process of turning the Mathematics Department into the School of Mathematics started in 1989. According to university regulations, the Mathematics department attained the requisite credentials to become a school in 1994 and took the appropriate steps in this area. The process of turning the Mathematics Department into the School of Mathematics started in 1989. According to university regulations, the Mathematics department attained the requisite credentials to become a school in 1994 and took the appropriate steps in this area. In the same year, the School of Mathematics admitted nine candidates for the PhD degree with both pure and applied subjects in the hopes of accomplishing this goal. Due to the efforts of the renowned university authorities, the old Mathematics school building was demolished at the end of 1989. During this period, the school was temporarily located in the applied physics building on the university's northwest side. The school relocated to its current location in August 2009 following the completion of the project to construct the Mathematics school building and the complex of basic science programs. Additionally, the school began its work in the field of computer science in September 2020 by enrolling undergraduate students in the field of applied Mathematics with a master's level speciality in code. The School of Mathematics now includes 17 school members, of whom six are professors, four are associate professors, and seven are assistant professors. The school has a history of nearly 30 years of instructional and research activities. This year, there are 650 undergraduate, 118 graduate, and 56 doctoral students. Students in this school can obtain a bachelor's in pure Mathematics, applied Mathematics, and computer science, a master's degree in statistics, applied Mathematics, and pure Mathematics, a doctoral degree in both pure and applied trends, and a master's degree in geometry, algebra, and Mathematical analysis. 2,129 students have received education from this school to date.
